What is your sign?

ON TARGETEver had one of those days where you feel like you are not sure if you are headed in the right direction? I had one of those days a few weeks back and was asking God for wisdom and confirmation because nothing seemed to be moving or clear. Shortly after I got done praying and asking God for direction, my family and I decided to go out for ice cream. In the line at the drive-thru, directly in front of us, was a license plate on a truck that read, “ONTARGT.” It was exactly what I needed to hear from God. Even though it felt like everything was at a standstill, in that moment it felt like God was saying to me, “Bethany, you are still on target, just hold the course.” God knew exactly what I needed to hear (read); He was speaking my language.

There have been many significant times in my life I have been praying and asking God to show me direction, lead me, and guide me. Then on my way to work, going to the grocery store, or just out and about, I pass a road sign, see words or a picture on semi-truck, or a license plate that is the answer I have been looking for or the encouragement and confirmation I needed.

All throughout the Bible God gave signs to His people to encourage them, give them direction and wisdom, and foretell of something greater coming.  From people in the Bible like Noah, Moses, Joshua, Jacob, Gideon, to John the Baptist, and Jesus.  God constantly was confirming His faithfulness through signs.

Today, I want to encourage you, if you are in need of wisdom, direction, or confirmation, ask God for a sign; He will be faithful to answer. It says in James 1:5, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” What is your sign?
