Day #16 – Lessons Learned in Running.

I love carbs! This week I switched up my diet by reducing the number of carbs that I was eating by half–not an easy adjustment. I have gone from eating 250-350 grams of carbs per day to the goal of 100-150 grams per day. It’s not that all the carbs I was eating before were bad–mostly fruit; organic chips, crackers, breads, etc., but I was having difficulties cutting through the last 10 pounds of weight loss. My muscle mass had definitely increased, but it had pushed all the fat to the outside making me feel soft around the edges so to speak–hahaha!

However, by making this change, it has affected my endurance for running. I have found it more difficult to have energy for any distance over 2.5 miles–ahhhhh….! So, now I will have to make some adjustments and find a good balance because within the first week of this diet change, I can already tell a difference around the edges! There has got to be a way to find the best of both worlds.

Note to self: Lessons #16 – For the LOVE OF CARBS–balance is the key!
