Day #5 – Lessons Learned in Running

challengeToday I was a bit frustrated with my running. I wanted to be able to run like 13 miles NOW! This whole building endurance thing and having patience as your body naturally begins to go beyond its previous limits is not for the faint of heart.

I am only in week 2 of my training and the thoughts go through my head–“I am never going to be able to do this; why don’t I just quite now; this seems impossible; I am not built to be a runner; what if I can’t make it…” But then I remind myself this is a process, this is training, this is going to change not only my endurance in running, but my endurance to persevere through other challenges in life–I don’t quite, I don’t give up, nothing is impossible, and I can do it!

Note to self: Lesson #5 – Endurance to persevere through life’s challenges will bring great reward and victory.

“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.” James 1:2-4
